Top Ranking Box Office Success At The Movies

Written by Mike Jones on July 29th, 2009

Box office receipts may not necessarily advise you if a movie is really great as everyone has a diverse opinion and every picture appeals to someone, even if it is only the producers and actors mothers. But, box office revenue do show how triumphant the film was out in the real world.

The highest grossing motion picture of all time did not make the most cash of every movie for all time. That is of course, because the top-grossing movie of all times was filmed back in 1939. Inflation has increased noticeably since that age and the box office revenue from that time were much less than box office take from current time.

But, with an alteration for the inflation of the past 70 years the best-selling show of all time is “Gone with the Wind” starring Vivien Leigh and Clark Gable. After the inflation alteration this movie has taken in $1.45 billion.

The motion picture that has brought in the maximum dollar amount without any alteration for inflation truly comes in at a reputable, but by no means number 1, place at number 6. That movie is “Titanic” and it brought in $922 million.

In the remaining top five there is “Star Wars” at number 2, number 3 is the musical “The Sound of Music”. Number 4 is everyone’s favorite creature from outer space, “E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial” and at number 5 is “The Ten Commandments”.

Once more at number 6 we have “Titanic”, followed by “Jaws” at number 7. Number 8 is “Doctor Zhivago”, number 9 is “The Exorcist” and rounding out the first ten is the Disney timeless “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” which was completed in 1939.

Disney movies have fared admirably as “101 Dalmatians”, “Mary Poppins” and “Fantasia” are all in the top 25. The “Star Wars” movies and George Lucas have also made an influence in the top 25 with “The Empire Strikes Back”, “Return of the Jedi” and “Star Wars: Episode I- the Phantom Menace” all showing up in the maximum 25.

If you haven’t seen some of these eminent movies and you would like to, you should check out the possibility of downloading the entire, unabridged, full-length movie from a reliable and above-board movie download site.
