Packing Your Things: Do It The Removalists’ Way

Written by Bruce Bailey on October 23rd, 2009

With its unregulated industry, there have been many removalists that have sprouted up across the eastern suburbs of Sydney. While others are still striving to make a name in the business, some like China Bear for example, have already shown and proved their credibility throughout the decades.

As the removal is the duty of the company, packing and unpacking of your things are left to your hands. You must know and plan very carefully how to do it right so as to save time and effort. By packing your things the wrong way, you are not just wasting your time and packaging materials, but it may also cause potential breakage of your property during the process.

Here are some simple guidelines to help you start out and hopefully your removal experience – from the packing till the unpacking stage will all be worthwhile.

Things like books, bond papers, and other office tools would be easier to pack, but you must also realize how heavy books are when compiled together and placed in one huge box. Although you have saved space, you will just give yourself a real burden on carrying them. Things like books should be kept in smaller boxes, so they will be easier to carry.

Clothes and cloths like draperies, rugs and table runners can be rolled to save more space. Just be sure to do it with care so the item will not be damaged.

You must also take note of those items that needs more care. Items like glassware, figurines and frames should be packed very carefully to avoid breakage. It will be proper if each of them will be wrapped with crushed papers, bubble wraps or cloth to keep them intact.

It will be much better if you put labels on each package or box to make it better to you to find things later on, while unpacking first those that are most important. Be sure to keep every essential document like birth certificates, passbooks, contracts, and other legal papers in safe storage.

Although most removalists in the eastern suburbs of Sydney already offer packing services, you still have the option to do this step on your own. What’s most important is to plan it very carefully, so you will get done on time, and will not cause any delays to both parties later on.

China Bear offers packing services too. Serving the residents of Sydney for 35 years, China Bear had already proven their name to be one of the best removalists in town, by always providing quality yet affordable removal services to its clients.

The trouble with getting packing done for you is that you don’t know where anything is after you move. Unless the packers write a good list of what’s in each box as they go. But definitely a good service if you just don’t have the time.

As a side note, I found this website the other day – Hot Removalists! http://www.hotremovalists.com.au Now who doesn’t want hot removalists to move them! ;-)
