How To Balance Your Exercise Routine

Written by Katherine Crawford, M.S. on February 12th, 2010

As a society we are heavier than ever. And with this heaviness comes a very steep price. You see, being overweight and even worse, obese, brings with it a whole range of additional diseases.

In fact, the majority of the top ten causes of death in the US are directly related to being overweight. Thus, getting in shape is a matter of life and death.

You may be confused, however, with all the different exercise plans out there. After all, how are you supposed to pick the best one? Well, the best one is going to be the one that trains your body in all different modes.

So here are 4 types of exercise you need for perfect health:

1. Aerobic conditioning: Aerobic conditioning places a lot of good stress on your circulatory system. And recall that a healthier circulatory system is critical for preventing heart disease-one of the top killers. Now keep mind that you don\’t have to go all out here. Simple activities such as gardening provide significant benefits.

2. Weight lifting: Now you don\’t have to become a bodybuilder here. Pick the type of routine that best suits your personality and stick with it. Weight lifting is a great way to keep your tendons, ligaments, connective tissue and muscle in tip top shape. It will also prevent your metabolism from going down.

3. Flexibility training: Do you suffer from low back pain? If so, you are like most Americans. You see, muscle fibers shorten and stiffen with age. Thus, flexibility training is a great way to prevent and reverse the effects of stiffness. It will also improve your posture and balance so that nagging pains become less of an issue.

4. Balance improvement: Being able to better balance yourself is critical for the prevention of nasty falls that can cause serious injury. And don\’t think that you are immune here, falls are a lot more common than you think. Furthermore, better balance will translate into better every day living.

Complete health involves doing all different modes of exercise. If you only focus on one area, you will get limited returns. And I\’m sure you want the biggest bang for your buck when it comes to exercise. So don\’t wait and act on this information now!
