Some Key Things You Should Know About Offset Printing

Many important tasks in a business such as maintaining flow of information within the company and marketing the offerings of the company require printing service. Therefore, it is important to have some fundamental knowledge of how printing works, especially offset printing, which is one of the most widely employed printing technologies.
Offset printing can produce a large number of prints quickly, which makes it less costlier than other techniques and also more popular. The clients giving bulk printing orders are recommended by the printers to choose offset printing due to this reason.
Offset printing uses oil based ink, which does not mix with water. Its so called because in this method, images are not transported directly from the plates to the paper but this is done through rubber blankets as a medium.
The process begins by preparing the designs. Previously the images were prepared by creating film negatives and were then transmitted to aluminum printing plates. This is no longer required as the technology exists for making the plates in one step through an image setting system. After this, the plate is attached to a cylinder with the correct side facing upwards. Next, the water is spread on the image plates, which is followed by the ink. The ink is spread over the image and to prevent it from overflowing, a thin layer of water is spread over the remaining part of the plate.
The image is then taken from the plates to the rubber blanket rolled on another cylinder, so that it is reversed. The image is now printed with its right side facing up by cutting sheets of papers into appropriate size and placing them on a third cylinder.
Last steps of the printing job involve things such as stapling, pasting or organizing the printed sheets according to the instructions of the client, and any printing company should easily manage these.
