In general, these episodes are harmless, are triggered by stress, and resolve on their own. There seems to be a number of prevalent myths surrounding the condition of Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD). Many of these myths center on the notion that GAD is not a serious condition and that most people who suffer from it are weak minded.
