Sleepwalking is particularly prevalent in children.

When helping a child to stop sleepwalking, try to ascertain the usual time of the night when the sleepwalking starts. Do this by keeping a record for a few nights. You can then set your alarm to wake before he/she starts sleepwalking and prevent an episode with gentle reassurances that will put the child back to sleep.

If these techniques prove unsuccessful, you may need to turn to other therapies to help stop sleepwalking. Hypnosis has proved to be useful in treating this condition.
